As I sit in LAX, in the Qantas Lounge, sipping a glass of Chandon, after a very nice plate of asian noodles and thai red curry, I reflect on the past hour I have spent explaining to LAX security what a HID battery is. Apart from the fact that I flew into this country with the torch, declared it during all security checks, and have been through at least 5 checkpoints, LAX wouldnt allow me to take the batter canister as carry on, and I had to check it in. What a PITA. Any one have any tips for travelling with HIDs ? how was Indo ? I have read on some forums about printing an ATA compliant sticker that you can put on batteries. not sure if it would do anything. Oh well, I lament. Ask Grant about just about getting a cavity search at EVERY airport he went through. They nearly had kittens every time, and once I thought she was going to confiscate it. Even the guy who did a physical check on the way home at Dempasar raised an eyebrow, then thought he better not ask!

It's not like you're going to be using it now are you ! Try bring a cylinder in your kit with the valves removed and the end taped up to stop dust. Well the customs guy in Denpasar just about had kittens when he saw the Bottles, just about dropped them like a bomb and wanted Grant to remove the tape to check inside ;D ;D ;D ;D
