Title: Scout LED conversion Post by: onwardsupwards on May 29, 2010, 01:35:46 PM Just converted two Scout backups from Halogen to LED
Info on conversion available here http://wobbelunch.multiply.com/photos/album/1/Slumpy_2 (http://wobbelunch.multiply.com/photos/album/1/Slumpy_2) Imported the R2 leds from here http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11836 (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11836) Took about one week to arrive, postage free. Had trouble finding the correct size head spacer as new bikes tend to have 1 1/8 spacers. Finally located some spacers with the correct outside diameter ie to match the original halogen, but inside diameter was larger than the LED drop in. Got around this by moving the LED to be hard against one side of the spacer and filling the void with ferropro epoxy mix. A bit agricultural but it works. Once ferropro hardened just touched up with dremel. Have to be careful that the drop in LED makes good contact with the inside of the spacer as ferropro is not conductive. Total cost for two lights $22.00. Results are great. Conversion on left, Halcyon conversion middle, Halogen right. All with new batterys. Cheers Title: Re: Scout LED conversion Post by: JD on June 01, 2010, 03:38:15 PM be interested to see it next to the intova. JD Had a look at the Intova and another brand? at Tank last time in the Mount. On/Off switch on Intova was crap. Other one had turn bezel but would have needed bike tube retaining sleeve to stop it coming on just in general moving around. Not good. JD Rick maybe you should strap one to your dick....you might attract a GUE diver with braces Title: Re: Scout LED conversion Post by: onwardsupwards on June 02, 2010, 07:43:08 PM What is it about a magnetic reed switch that is not DIR Rick? JD Just found the switch too small and I think would be very hard to activate with gloves. Maybe just me, but I don't think so :D The other one with the turn bezel would activate very easily with just rubbing against harness or drysuit etc. Then again if you have 5 or 6 attached to say, a helmet, probably would not be a problem. ;) Title: Re: Scout LED conversion Post by: ph on June 03, 2010, 12:32:55 PM Then again if you have 5 or 6 attached to say, a helmet, probably would not be a problem. ;)
thats what i was reffering to Title: Re: Scout LED conversion Post by: onwardsupwards on June 03, 2010, 07:49:50 PM Then again if you have 5 or 6 attached to say, a helmet, probably would not be a problem. ;) thats what i was reffering to
Ohhhh, THAT helmet!!! :D Nice one :D :D :D :D :D Might struggle to fit 4 x21w HID on though.
