I have just been looking at Quigs' new vidoe camera. Not a bad unit, and the price is very good! The link to Oceanic is here: https://www.oceanicaus.com.au/product.php?id=13955m rating, neat compact unit. I thought it was ace! JD

OK, attached is part of the ad, showing the camera, rubber condom (anti flood skin) and housing. Interesting thing is the buttons on the back of the housing work a remote control, not the buttons on the camera itself, quite smart really. Rick, I assume 1280 x 720 is hi def, otherwise it's false advertising. Full hi def is probably another matter.

720p is one 'version' of hidef with 720 lines vertical resolution in progressive (each line sequentially) scan, meaning not interlaced (each odd numbered line followed by each even numbered line hence interlacing). 1080p is 'full HD', 1080 scan lines, progressive (1080i being interlaced)

Definitely nice looking unit and great size.
Wonder how it goes in very low viz ( murky silty water, or pitch dark cave ). Be interested to see if HIDs would white out the image badly.
Who is Bonica though ? Something about having a Panasonic, Sony or other well known manufacturer to provide warranty support or confidence in product.
Sure this isn't like buying an air con from Cunno's ? or a GPS navigator from Aldi ?

Not really Ian. Oceanic is a diving company, and they have released a diving video set up. They obviously do not have the R & D to make an Oceanic camera, so outsource that bit and make the housing etc. Look, it is probably not the be all and end all of UW video, but for someone like me, why not? Still and video camera in one, and not so obscenely priced that if I flood it I lose the house (if I had one!) Look at the C&N camera you bought Ian. Did you expect to make Imax movies with it? I see this as an entry into UW video which is affordable to the masses. Great product. I look forward to seeing how Mick goes with it, and maybe he can post a vid or 2 for us to have a look at? Lastly, Rick I dont think this supercedes yours! JD

Maybe we could have gold stars or hand prints put into the stairs going down into Wests, and set up a mini chinese theatre.

being a small unit have you been able to get some after dark snaps from the bedside table of some of your best work.....use a cap, with the lense peaking thru the rear where the adjustment strap is.....works a treat, apparently?
