Rick,

JD and Cathy coming over to Melbourne. Carlton Footy match, dinner, Daylesford, touring. A few days off diving is needed right now !

I think JD is doing some deep dives on the Inspo with Dave Hirst.

You should seriously TRY and get on the Alert on Monday, do the dive, then jump straight in the car after and drive home (assuming you are back at work on Tues)

As nice as that would be, the boat is full, and I probably wouldnt want the stress of that anyway.

I think the bit about  "your not qualified to do the dive on CCR" vs "liability" might also have something to do with it

I didn't realise the rest of the Harvey family was going to be there also. I'll have to say hello and give them my regards then.

Paul you seem to be down grading everyone else to make yourself feel better. Ian's course, Ricks illness, now my Inspo training. How about saying something positive for a change? You never know, people might actually appreciate it.

stop your sooking!!!

GUE courses are over priced you know that as well as I do!

re-read my posts about Ricks dick...I did send a sincere get well. but did get some some enjoyment out of it...woopy!

I didn't down grade your training as I know who trained you!!! I was merely pointing out that over you won't get a deep dive unless you have the cert card or a private boat...fact...stop trying to buck the system and go to sydney and get your trimix cert!!!

as it seems I am correct once again....the sunday trip to the alert is by geoff giddens...he is strict on diver certification (as he should be) and has been for some time now.....no hope of diving without the correct certification.

What certification would be required to do this dive PH.

Are Rbs allowed? Is there a requirement to have done a certain amount of dives outside certification or does he need to evaluate, on an individual basis, to his own personal requirements.
As an example new divers to Bicheno, especially if they have only had tropical temperature experience, are required to do a shore dive to satisfy the operator that they will not freak when dropped into 40m 10C.

Not sure how strict is strict.

Geoff is strict and rightly so given how ruthless Worksafe can be. It all started when AM, DB and SV got their RB certs and whilst they had been doinfg shit loads of deep OC trimix Geoff said no to trimix on their Inspos until they certified...which they eventually did, how ever they were allowed to dice them on air to 55m as the cert that they got in sydney aloows it, but gas was never checked so they were pobably on a mix?Huh/

I have recently heard (hearsay) that geoff won't take a TDI ext range diver to a 57m site......if this is true I IMHO is silly  esp that if you have PADI deep 40m then they will plonk you on Lonsdale wall...which is about 80m+

any way Rick going back to the Alert..I gues you will need the appropriate trimix or RB cert to dive to 75/80m I guess...there are a couple of boats that will go there  but I am told that a SOE rep must be on the boats and also arranges the permit.....hope that answers your question

PH,

Correct, a SOE member must dive with the other divers on board, as it is a condition of the State Heritage listing of the wreck. The permits can only be arranged through SOE also, to ensure that the wreck is left in tact and preserved.
