Everyone has a choice, if you cannot organise a safe partner for a dive, and feel that for safety it is important to have one, then simply don't do the dive. There is always another day.
If it is then
your choiceto dive solo, then accept the possible consequences of that descision.
I continually see buddy pairs, for all intents and puposes diving solo. Again this is personal choice, or more likely complacency creeping in, of which most of us are guilty of at times.
When accidents happen we then seem to focus again. Purely human nature but obviously something to guard against.
These comments on solo diving are not designed in any way to relate the events recently at Kilsbys. I have no imformation at all about what happened there and will not speculate.
