Who has read the minutes of the AGM? Thoughts?

I would like to open discussions on Warricks succession policy. Is this in the best interests of the association, having candidates mentored by the current ND? Is this not just a ploy to bypass the voting by the members and have Warrick appoint his successor? Is this an unfair advantage for the person who has been taken under the wing by Warrick over the candidate who has not?

Thoughts gents?

After reading the minutes it seems that anyone is able to nominate as a prospective candidate.
How does that become someone being taken under Warricks wing?

Would you rather that anyone took over, totally inexperienced, with no idea of what the position really entailed.

Remember that at the end of the day it goes to a vote of the members, regardless of who is a prospective candidate or not.

JD for president, start campaigning. Hang on, maybe this is the start. Grin Grin Grin

It stops no one from being under Warricks wing, unless he doesnt like you.......

As far as experience goes, the job outline is listed in your CDAA manual. The reason we stopped doing the full change of directors every year is so there are half the directorship who know what is going on, who can advise the new director. It has been this way for a long time. I also believe there is a handover period, maybe Rob can comment?

I agree it goes to the membership for a vote, but a candidate who is endorsed by the current outgoing director vs someone who is not? Is he just grooming someone for the job who he thinks should do it?

Just trying to get others opinions here Rick, just to see if I am reading this correctly and to see if others think the same as I do and make sure I am not strapping on the alfoil hat with no real reason to......

JD

PS: Rob will make a much better ND than I would. Wink

Hi All

In reality there is no handover. Lots of good talk about help and stuff  lots of touchy feely stuff but down to brass tacks is sod off i am out of here. Most of the time there is a real election and there is always some regrettable stuff sent about from both camps, eventually a winner is proclaimed and the feelings start. I have contested the last 4 elections for Site and the last one was probably the cleanest of the lot.
I have not seriously really thought about ND. I believe i make a better SD and that's why i have stood for that possition.

Is mentoring a candidate any different to schooling up a deputy to take over at the next election? The said annointed one still has to get elected as mentioned, inless of course there is no-one running against them.

Whilst everyone might bitch & moan about it, really who has the time to do a job such as ND. I think it would be a very difficult ask for someone with a 'real' day-job to put the time into the position.

Shame but it's quite likely that whomever the chosen one is will get the gig. Pity if that person is going to have the same outlook as I think there are better things for people to do rather than pursue their own kind (ie directors/instructors) such as could be considered the case in light of recent investigations.

I can say with certainty that they person being schooled, definitely has a 'real' day job. Sworn to secrecy on who it is.

(It definitely is NOT me though, I can tell you that)
